About

Lin Wang is a visual artist based in Oslo, Norway, working between Norway and Jingdezhen, China. Her practice brings together porcelain sculpture, large-scale installation, public art, performance, food, tattoo and video.

Through her ongoing project Exotic Dreams and Poetic Misunderstandings, Wang explores how images, objects and identities change as they move between cultures. Drawing on the histories of porcelain and maritime exchange alongside her own experiences of living between China and Norway, she brings Chinese blue-and-white painting into conversation with sailors’ tattoos, bodily imagery and stories of belonging.

Her recent work explores the relationship between porcelain and skin. Hand-modelled folds and tattooed surfaces give the material an unsettling bodily presence, bringing fragility, intimacy and transformation into forms that range from vessels to immersive environments. In her performance dinners, sculpture becomes part of a shared encounter, inviting people to gather, eat and exchange stories.

Wang received her BA in Sculpture from the China Academy of Art in 2008 and her MA in Fine Art from Bergen Academy of Art and Design (KHiB) in 2016. Her solo exhibitions include True Romance at HB381, New York (2025), Still Life at Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art, Trondheim (2022), and Rhapsody and Still Life at the Vigeland Museum, Oslo (2019–2020). Her work is held in collections including the National Museum of Norway and Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum.
